I wrote a fair bit about the superb Oddero Baroli from this era back in October of 2010, when reporting on a comparative tasting of the legendary 1971, 1964 and 1958 vintages in the Langhe. I love the Oddero wines from this era (not that the new releases are not anything but superb as well!) and these are some of the best-kept secrets out there today for Barolo from this era. The 1967 is a beautiful and utterly refined bottle of mature Barolo, offering up a very complex and captivating bouquet of cherries, oranges, woodsmoke, gamebirds, coffee, oregano, gentle tariness and leather. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and seamless, with its full-bodied format perfectly resolved today. The wine has superb intensity at the core, excellent complexity and focus and a very long, tangy and beautifully balanced finish. This is a superb bottle of Barolo at its peak of maturity. 93+

Monica Larner writes in Wine Advocate: "The Oddero family released its first bottle of wine in 1878. Since then, the winery was handed down six generations, father to son. That tradition changed with the seventh generation. Today, sisters Mariacristina and Mariavittoria (daughters of Giacomo Oddero) own the winery and 35 hectares of vineyard spread across the townships of Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra, Monforte d’Alba and Castiglione Falletto." Notes

The Oddero Barolo 1967 is a classic vintage from one of Barolo's most traditional producers. Known for their long-aging wines, Oddero has a reputation for creating Barolos that reflect the region's terroir and traditional winemaking techniques. The 1967 vintage, now fully mature, would likely exhibit complex tertiary notes of dried red fruits, leather, tobacco, and earth, with soft, well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. This wine would be a rare and elegant expression of traditional Barolo, showcasing decades of graceful aging.
