The 2018 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Auslese is warm, ripe and cool on the precise nose that displays fascinating flinty notes of crushed wet stones and fresh lemon oil. The palate is lush, round, intense, salty-piquant and well-concentrated thanks to perfectly dry botrytis. The finish is complex, tight, very long and expressive in its firm, mineral character. A great Kupp with a long life ahead. Tasted from AP 7 in June 2019.(SR)

The 2018 Auslese from the Braune Kupp is really a lovely wine, with a glaze of beautifully clean botrytis defining the wine on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is a lovely mix of white cherries, pear, lime blossoms, fresh mint, slate, bee pollen and violets. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and racy in profile, with a creamy core of fruit, lovely mineral underpinnings, fine focus and grip and a long, zesty and lifted finish. Lovely juice. The 2018er Wiltinger braune Kupp Auslese is made from grapes harvested at up to a full 125° Oechsle and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar (116 g/l). It offers an opulent and rich nose of an “Auslese GK” as scents of honey, candied exotic fruits, strawberry, grapefruit, passion fruit and ginger cake emerge from the glass. The wine proves deliciously ripe, creamy and soft on the palate. Plenty of exotic fruits are well wrapped into zesty elements in the long and intense finish. This impressive noble-sweet wine will need quite some time to absorb its residual sugar and could well exceed our high expectations as it develops its finesse with age. 2038-2068." (06/2019)
