This full-throttle, 151-proof rum is a blend of 85% demerara and 15% Jamaican Pot Still comes from noted rum importer Ed Hamilton. It's his answer to one of his longtime portfolio staples, the Lemon Hart 151 overproof. Burnt amber in color with hugely intense nose (apart from the ethanol). The profile is heavily centered on molasses, maple, and treacle. This is a serious step up from the clear Puerto Rican 151s that most people are familiar with. It's ideal for Tiki cocktails for sure, but with a few drops of water it's well worth the experience of drinking it on its own. It will work equally well in spirit forward cocktails, too.
