Reviewed September 2019Ripe, full and explosive with a big tannic frame. Expressive dark fruit aromas and flavour. Broad palate, tannins present but finely etched. Persistent. (JL)

Blackberry, blueberry and orange-peel aromas follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, tangy finish. The hazelnut and walnut undertones add to the complexity. Drink in 2021 and onwards.

Wine Spectator
A restrained style, but with a tasty core of juicy plum and red currant fruit that melds with light mulling spice, black tea and sanguine notes. There's a dusting of cedar on the finish. Drink now through 2028. (JM)

An outstanding Moulis made with consulting help from Stéphane Derenoncourt, the 2016 Château Poujeaux offers up a rock star, medium to full-bodied, layered profile as well as pretty notes of ripe black fruits, graphite, violets, and background oak. Give this sleeper 2-3 years of bottle age and it will impress for a decade or more.
