(5.7 g/l total acidity, 3.58 pH, 27 g/l dry extract, 14.3% alcohol): Bright red with an amber rim. Knockout perfume of raspberry, sweet spices, violet, underbrush and sexy oak. Supple, savory and sweet, with terrific energy and purity to the sappy red fruit flavors lifted by bright, harmonious acidity. The sweet, long finish is firm and gripping but also very fine-grained and smooth. This wine benefited from slow ripening during a long growing season. Extremely impressive and very youthful Brunello, showing the graceful side of this bottling (while the '97 is more about power). Aged 48 months in large oak casks. (ID)
