Decanter
Reviewed August 2019Sashi Moorman and Rajat Parr focus on terroir-oriented Pinot Noir. This marries earthy Burgundian characters with some Californian warmth. Elevated aromatics are complemented by fine tannins, crisp acidity and purity of fruit. Oak underpins the structure but is so understated. Fine, fresh, elegant. (AH)

John Gilman
The 2016 Memorious pinot noir is the most youthful of these three bottlings from Domaine de la Côte, with the wine more black fruity on the nose than the la Côte or Bloom’s Field cuvées. The bouquet holds out plenty of promise in its blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries, bonfire, hung game, lavender, a lovely touch of cola, gentle new oak and a beautiful topnote of lavender. This wine gets some lovely red fruity elements as well on the nose as it blossoms with air. On the palate the wine is deep, focused and very pure in personality, with a sappy core of black fruit, stellar soil signature, ripe, seamless tannins and a very, very long, nascently complex and refined finish. Like the 2016 la Côte bottling, this is so well balanced that it is very, very easy to drink today, but this is a puppy and should be cellared for many years, to let its full potential arrive and dazzle! 94+

Wine Advocate
The 2016 Pinot Noir Memorious, from a 3.5-acre parcel that's typically the last to be harvested, offers up a lifted and perfumed nose of Griotte cherry, orange rind, cassis, currant leaf, raspberry and rose hip. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a rich chassis of supple tannins, lovely depth at the core, superb concentration and a long, lingering finish. A strong undercurrent of salinity always seems to distinguish this site, and that's unmistakably present in the 2016 rendition. (WK)

Vinous
The is another dense, resonant wine endowed with real pedigree and class. A rush of sweet red berry fruit, mint, savory herbs and flowers fills out the wine's frame effortlessly, with bright citrus and white pepper overtones that add life. The Memorious is perhaps not quite as vertical or complex as the other single-vineyard wines in the range, but in exchange it will drink well earlier. Here, too, the 100% whole clusters are very well integrated into the wine's fabric. (AG)
