Reviewed September 2008The 1985 Bonneau du Martray is fully into its apogee, and is drinking splendidly. The bouquet is deep, complex and classic, as it offers up a mélange of lemon zest, fresh peaches, corn meal, a bit of iodine, spring flowers, wet stones, and a delicate framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and brilliantly focused, with excellent mid-palate depth, fine balance, and a outstanding length and grip on the complex and à point finish. The 1985 vintage of Bonneau du Martray has aged beautifully, and while at its peak today, will surely continue drinking very well for at least the next ten to twelve years. Fine juice.

Wonderfully complex, expressive and intense aged white burgundy aromas that still are completely fresh and pure if no longer primary lead to round, rich, powerful and extremely long flavors. There is really good depth here with the classic Corton-Charlemagne minerality and racy finishing acidity. While I would expect no further positive development, the balance is so good that this should easily hold for a number of years to come.
