2013 Scott Paul "La Paulée" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
91
Vinous
Review Date: 12/2016Deep red. Bright and energetic on the nose, displaying intense red berry and blood orange scents, along with candied rose and allspice highlights. Silky, sweet and incisive on the palate, offering juicy strawberry and floral pastille flavors and a spicy kick of white pepper. Closes very long and nervy; fine-grained tannins lend shape and closing grip. (JR)

The La Paulée Pinot from Scott Paul is lip-smackingly delicious! A perfect rendition of bright, juicy, brambly, cool-climate Oregon Pinot. The fruit for this wine comes from a couple of the most highly esteemed vineyards in the regions including: Maresh Vineyard (Arterberry Maresh) Nysa Vineyard (Nicholas-Jay / Archery Summit) and Ribbon Ridge Estate Vineyard...all known for $50 single vineyard wines. Beyond the quality of the fruit sources, Scott Paul's winemaker, Ian Burch, was the Assistant Winemaker at Evening Land for 6 years under the mentorship of Burgundian royalty Dominique Lafon! This is an absolute steal. (Ryan Woodhouse—K&L Domestic Wine Buyer)
