This is still 100% Merlot, while waiting for the Cabernet Franc vines to mature (it's massal selection from Beauregard). Despite the pure Merlot, this is tight, almost austere, with clear ageing potential. It has carefully extracted black fruits and firm tannins, yet there's a softness through the mid-palate and an opening out on the finish which develops into plump red fruits. (JA)

This is a fascinating wine that is 100% Merlot with plenty of fruit and velvety tannins. Lovely center palate.

The 2015 Le Thil is a dark, powerful wine endowed with serious fruit intensity and power. Black fruit, chocolate, new leather, spice and tobacco give the 2015 much of its dark, brooding personality. From barrel, the 2015 was much more sexy. Today, it is decidedly more tannic and rustic, especially in its tannins. It will be interesting to see if bottle age helps smooth things out. There is more than enough density to support at least a handful of years in the cellar. (AG)

The juicy red currant and raspberry fruit flavors are studded with licorice snap and tar notes, but stay fresh, with tobacco and iron details scoring the finish. (JM, Web Only-2018)

Notes

This property was purchased by Florence and Daniel Cathiard along with a group of investors in 2013. The wine has always been good — but their influence has made it even better. This 2015 is delicious. Tons of blackberry fruit aromas and flavor. Will drink well when young.
