The 2012 Chablis Sechet opens with the most exquisite, expressive aromatics imaginable. Weightless and totally gracious in the glass, the 2012 is a wine of sublime understatement. Hints of petrol, graphite and smoke on the finish suggest the 2012 will develop considerable aromatic nuance in bottle. What a gorgeous wine this is. (AG)

There is a hint of the exotic to the Mandarin orange-tinged mix of ripe orchard fruit, tidal pool, floral and soft citrus hints. There is good energy to the seductively textured, delicious and solidly voluminous flavors that exude a fine minerality on the lingering finish. This understated effort arguably possesses even more finesse than usual and should reward 7 to 10 years of cellaring. This beauty is also recommended. *Outstanding*

Stony aromas of white pepper, biscuit and white truffle. Dense and energetic, with a distinctly savory saline quality leavening the intense lemon and mineral flavors. Finishes stony and very long, with terrific energy and grip. Very youthful in the early going. (ST) 92+

The 2012 Chablis 1er Cru Sechet, which comes from vines over 50 years old on hard white limestone soil, has a well- defined mineral-driven bouquet with touches of smoke and flint. The palate is fresh and vibrant with cutting citrus edge on the entry that gives ways to white peach and dried apricot toward the taut and detailed finish. Excellent. (NM)

Notes

91-92 points David Schildknecht for Wine Advocate: "Fresh lime, red currant and gentian on the nose of Dauvissat's 2012 Chablis Sechet - as tasted from barrel - anticipate the tart, seed-crunching vivacity and piquancy delivered on a palate nonetheless so silken in texture that this beauty caresses even as it invigorates. The uncanny, subtle alliance of salinity, mineral nuance and secret sweetness that is fresh scallop lend this Sechet a sort of "little Preuses" personality that I have observed occasionally in other vintages. The finish here displays delightful lift along with transparency to mineral and floral nuances." (10/2013)
