Wine Advocate
Review Date: 06/2018The 2015 Estate Red is deep garnet-purple colored and delivers a good amount of oak-inspired notions to begin over a core of blackcurrant cordial, blackberry pie, preserved plums and chocolate box with hints of vanilla pod and cigar box. Big, concentrated and full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with black fruit preserves, framed by ripe, firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a woody note. (LPB) 94+

A simply delicious proprietary blend of Bordeaux varietals that is packed with luscious dark fruit, baking spice, dark chocolate and cedar. Really shows its class with lovely purity and highly polished, silky tannins. This can stand shoulder to shoulder with much more expensive propriety reds from the big guns in Napa Valley. A seriously impressive wine from the folks at Chalk Hill, and a perfect gift wine for the holidays with is big points and luxurious heavy bottle.

Email JamesWhen someone says a wine has "gravitas" this is stunning 2015 is exactly what he or she has in mind. Broad, structured, and with unparalleled purity, this estate blend has everything going for it. Dark chocolate meets dark fruits and is accented by just the right touches of wood spice. Being a 2015, it is still very youthful with dusty tannins carrying into the long, satisfying finish. While I have more experience with Chardonnay from Chalk Hill, this blockbuster red proves they can play with the big boys. It's more than reasonable price for a wine of this caliber makes it all the more tempting. Enjoy this 2015 now with a good decant or drop in your cellar for ten years and be absolutely dazzled.

Email GaryThe aromatics are spectacular and the palate is seamless. It's a rich, opulent red blend that perfectly encapsulates the 2015 vintage in Sonoma. Blue and black fruits, creme de cassis, dried tobacco, and a hint of wood on the finale. Its full-bodied and multi-layered, and is the perfect companion to your next prime-rib roast.
