The 2014 The Overthinker is a blend of 62% Grenache, 24% Syrah and 14% Mourvèdre. Medium to deep garnet-purple, it opens with a broody earthy/meaty nose of chargrill, charcoal, black soil and cardamom over notes of black cherries, black raspberries and plums. Full-bodied with tons of bright, expressive red and black fruits, it has very finely grained tannins and a refreshing line of acid supporting the generous flavors, finishing on an earthy note. (LPB)

Opaque ruby. Deeply perfumed, smoke-tinged aromas of raspberry, boysenberry, anise and violet pastille are complicated by a hint of five-spice powder. Juicy, expansive and alluringly sweet, offering intense red and blue fruit preserve and spicecake flavors sharpened by a suggestion of white pepper. Smooth, harmonious tannins build slowly on the very long, energetic finish, which strongly echoes the floral and red fruit notes. (JR)
