2014 Domaine Arnaud Ente Bourgogne Blanc

A cool and pure array of straw and essence of pear aromas displays a floral top note. There is excellent volume to the impressively complex and well-detailed flavors that are underpinned by citrus-tinged acidity on the lingering finale. It's rare to find Bourgogne at this level of quality and this is highly recommended. *Outstanding, Top Value*

The Bourgogne Blanc bottling from Arnaud Ente used to be about a fifty-fifty blend of parcels on the two far sides of the village of Meursault, with some up towards Volnay and the other half from plots of vines on the Puligny-Montrachet border. However, the Volnay parcel has now been replanted and the 2014 Bourgogne Blanc was produced solely from the vines on the Puligny side of town. The wine is lovely and quite juicy out of the blocks, offering up a very pretty nose of pear, a touch of fresh almond, orange blossoms and a fine base of chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and round on the attack, with a fine core, vibrant acids and fine focus and bounce on the long and generous finish. This is more forward out of the blocks than the Aligoté this year and will drink well right from the outset.

This comes from two vineyards in Puligny and one in Meursault. More Puligny because the yields are higher there. Lots of savour and breadth. Not so austere and reductive as they used to be. Tight. But broad enough to enjoy.
