Reviewed October 2017The 2015 'La Côte' Pinot Noir is simply brilliant and may be one of the most impressive releases to date from Raj Parr, Sashi Moorman and the team at Domaine de la Côte. From the upper portion of the La Côte vineyard, this elegant and refined Pinot Noir begins with vivid aromatics of cranberries, pomegranate and raspberries, which are woven together with floral pastille, spices, orange zest and hints of dried soil nuances. On the palate this is finely textured and silky, focused around a tightly wound core, which is driven by bright acidity. This continues to impress with its remarkable balance and precision which take it to another level, as beautiful red fruits and florals continue to build on the vibrant finish. The La Côte is a truly special and ageworthy Pinot Noir that will only become more appealing as it evolves over time. (JD)

The 2015 Pinot Noir La Côte is fabulous, and probably the greatest offering Domaine de la Côte has released to date—although the 2016 rendition will give it a run for its money in due course. The wine soars from the glass with a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity featuring notes of raspberries, red cherries, potpourri, rose hip and sweet spices. On the palate, the La Côte is medium-bodied and expansive, framed by incredibly fine-grained tannins and boasting stunning inner-mouth perfume. The concentration and depth that have been packed into this decidedly elegant, even delicate wine are incredible. This is compelling testimony to what can be achieved in an extreme mesoclimate if one's willing to accept the tiny yields that are essential to achieving full phenolic maturity. (WK)

Tart pomegranate fruit is joined by an alluring hint of smoke on the nose, while the palate turns up the aromatic volume by adding floral notes of peony that seem to enhance the purity of the fruit. White pepper shimmers around the edges - that tell-tale spice of 100% whole-bunch ferments. This is poised and pure, and has something of the Pacific wilderness about it. Winemaker Sashi Moorman held back on the oak here, using just 45% new wood, and thus the fruit speaks eloquently. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030. (AK)

The 2015 Pinot Noir La Côte possesses inner density and depth that give it an inward, implosive feel. A dollop of whole clusters adds some aromatic nuance. It will be interesting to see if the 2015 opens up over time. Today, it is quite reticent and not ready to show all of its cards. (AG) 93+
