A Grenache-dominated blend, the 2016 Côtes de Tablas wafts from the glass with an expressive bouquet of juicy cherries, Provence herbs, orange rind, licorice and sweet soil. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a rich but succulent core of fruit, bright acids and fine-grained tannins. This is a really lovely rendition of the Côtes de Tablas that should age gracefully for a decade or more. (WK)

Vivid ruby-red. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red fruits, succulent herbs and potpourri. Sweet, seamless and penetrating on the palate, offering energetic raspberry, cherry and succulent herb flavors sharpened by a lively mineral quality and a jolt of white pepper. Finishes long and spicy, with sneaky tannins that add shape and youthful grip. (JR)

The 55% Grenache component of this blend takes the lead on the nose, where crushed rose, bright cherry, framboise and jasmine aromas align. The 25% Syrah, 13% Mourvèdre and 7% Counoise make their slighter presence a bit more known on the complex palate, where candied strawberry, cherry and pomegranate flavors dominate. (MK)

The 2016 Côtes de Tablas is more Grenache-dominated and includes 25% Syrah, 13% Mourvèdre, and the rest Counoise, all brought up in neutral foudre. It offers outstanding notes of kirsch and darker fruits, herbes de Provence, and spice in a medium-bodied, silky, elegant, finesse-oriented package that’s well worth drinking. (JD)
