The 2016 Zinfandel Three Valleys is fabulous. Bright, floral and lifted, with very pretty red and purplish berry fruit, the 2016 holds tons of near and medium-term appeal. This mid-weight, gracious Zinfandel is all class. Best of all, pricing is around $30 a bottle. Don't miss it. (AG)

The 2016 Zinfandel Three Valleys is outstanding and in 2016 is 68% Zinfandel, 15% Carignan, and the rest Petite Sirah and Grenache. Loaded with notions of wild strawberries, plums, spice box, and hints of violets, this medium-bodied effort has loads of charm and upfront appeal. Drink it over the coming 4-6 years.

Notes

A blend of 68% Zinfandel, 15% Carignane, 12% Petite Sirah, and 5% Grenache, the 2016 Three Valleys blends fruit from eight Sonoma Vineyards. A handmade wine to every standard of Ridge Vineyards, this wine captures a snapshot of the region as a whole rather than a single site expression. It reveals a immediately pleasureable profile of fruit and spice with minerally savor that isn't oaky or jammy. It's a tremendous value from a benchmark producer, as described by William Kelley in the May 2018 issue of Wine Advocate: "Ridge boasts as illustrious a history as any winery in California, but they certainly aren't resting on their laurels. Indeed, a persuasive case could be made that Ridge is currently producing the best wines they've ever made."
