The 2015 Chardonnay is racy and open-knit in this vintage, offering attractive orchard fruit and yellow fruit character. There is a real viscosity and weight to the 2015, and its soft contours and plush fruit result in a giving, inviting Chardonnay that will be delicious to drink upon release. Fruit sources are Solomon Hills, Bentrock, Sanford & Benedict and Radian. (AG)

Lime pith, butterscotch, chilled pineapple and lemon meringue aromas show on the nose of this winery's entry-level bottling. The palate is nicely chiseled, with a tight frame and wound up freshness revealing grapefruit zest, Pink Lady apple and a touch of flint and gunmetal flavorings. (MK)

The 2015 Chardonnay Santa Barbara County has a very pretty grapefruit and yuzu-scented nose with hints of honeysuckle, toasted almonds and lemongrass. Medium-bodied, with a lovely line of racy acid lifting the elegant citrus flavors, it finishes with great length and mineral nuances. (LPB)

A perfect reflection of Sta. Rita’s soil and climate, capturing the cool sunlight, saline breezes and white soils. White flowers, crunchy orchard fruit, oyster shell, brown butter, raw almond. Lovely drive and brightness.

In recent years, Matt Dees has become known as one of the top winemakers in the state of California. He makes the wines for Jonata, The Hilt, and The Paring, plus a few other side projects and consulting roles. Jonata is the sister winery of the legendary Screaming Eagle estate in Napa and focuses largely on Bordeaux and Rhône varietals planted at their fascinating site in Ballard Canyon. The Hilt is essentially Jonata’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay project from top vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills (plus some Santa Maria fruit, namely Solomon Hills vineyard).
