Upon opening there is a burst of cedar dust scents followed closely by rich black cherry and dark cassis scents. Light herbs and background spearmint scents, as well. On the palate, it has that 2014 telltale tannic grip. In this case, it is quite subtle and clings to the upper palate. It tends towards very dark red and black-fruited with more black cherry fruit, blackberry, light chalk and grilling spices. It straddles that fine line of traditional style Bordeaux and plushness of fruit. Quite a feat for a wine at this price. It should appeal to pretty much anyone who like Bordeaux or to those who are seeking a nice vintage-aged Bordeaux that doesn't cost a fortune.
