Reviewed November 2017A highly complex, spice-laced bouquet evokes black and blue fruit preserves, incense and Moroccan spices, and a smoky mineral quality adds lift. Stains the palate with concentrated, sharply delineated boysenberry and cassis liqueur flavors that are energized by a spine of juicy acidity. Definitely rich, but shows outstanding energy and clarity as well. Finishes sweet, velvety and extremely long, leaving notes of candied flowers and spicecake behind. (JR)

The 2014 Perfectionist from Trevisan is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre that saw 100% stems and aging all on concrete. It sports a light ruby color as well as complex notes of raspberries, damp earth, peppery herbs and violets. Full-bodied, silky and seamless on the palate, it has a great texture that just glides across the palate, as well as light tannin and a clean finish.

A blend of 72% Syrah, 23% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre, the 2014 Perfectionist has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of blueberry pie and blackberry preserves over notes of chocolate box, dried herbs, menthol and star anise. Medium to full-bodied, it offers up generous black fruit and spice layers supported by ripe, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and peppery. (LPB)
