A lovely if rather modern style on the nose of this wine, with ripe bilberry and blackcurrant fruits, with notes of charcoal smoke, all dusted with powdered chalk and a touch of icing-sugar sweetness. The palate is charming, concentrated, quite seamless, showing some dark and savoury fruits, brooding with scents of soy and black bean, with some grippy tannins underneath. An impressively fresh and pure style, rich in creamed-fruit joy. The tannins are undeniably firm but they feel correct and balanced, threading through rather than dominating the finish. An impressive wine, with a good length, appropriately infused with structure and substance.
