Showing red apple, minerality, and more depth than the Trépail in my opinion, this has a little extra complexity while still staying fresh and accessible. The added mineral note gives it a firmer backbone and makes it feel complete on the finish.

This Blanc de Noirs from Boulard Bauquaire in Cormicy, "the last village of Champagne" because of its far northern location, is a customer favorite. 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Meunier, you get the chiseled body and structure of Pinot Noir married with the fruit-forward richness of Meunier. Vinified in stainless steel and aged for 4 years on the lees, this is a full-bodied, creamy, and rich champagne bursting with stone fruit, strawberry, cherry, almond, peach, plum, hints of smoke, and sharp acidity indicative of its northern terroir.

50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Meunier, this is one of the finest examples of Blanc de Noirs on our shelves. On the palate, this champagne has notes of blood orange, raspberry, red apple, lemons, and almonds, with great acidity and an apple driven finish. The first wine I would point out to a customer inquiring about Blanc de Noirs, especially at this awesome price point.
Lovely and toasty, round, and big-bodied—everything you want from a Blanc de Noirs. Red apple, brioche, and a hint of strawberry lead into a generous, full palate with real weight and presence. The richness is balanced by enough freshness to keep it lively through the finish. A crowd-pleasing, food-loving Champagne and one of the best values in the case.

Notes

This great bottle comes from the far northern edge of Champagne in the Massif St-Thierry, north of Reims. All of the vines for this 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Meunier cuvée come from Cormincy, the last village in Champagne before the flats facing out towards the Ardennes. As one would expect from a Blanc de Noir, this is a full-bodied wine with plenty of savory red fruit flavor. Due to its far northern provenance, this Champagne also has great snap and refreshment to balance out its power. - Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer
