Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the Mas Codina Brut Rosé Reserva Cava is fresh, juicy, and loaded with gorgeous red fruit notes – think ripe red cherry, strawberry and plum – all kept in check with bright, racy acidity and a chalky finish. A touch fuller-bodied than the white Reserva and Gran Reserva, the more prominent fruit notes make this an ideal Cava to pair with soft cheeses and charcuterie, or even dishes featuring grilled chicken or shrimp. It’s also an astounding value, considering that it’s made from organically grown fruit and handmade at a family-owned estate that has been in operation since the 1600s. The quality of Cava has never been better, and this one is a prime example of that trend!

This Cava rose is just so easy to drink. You will be hard pressed to find a better rose bubbly in the store at this price of under $15. Crisp fruit and acid show that Pinot Noir grown on chalky soils in the hot climate of Spain can still make an outstanding bottle of wine that is just plain fun to drink and will be empty before you know it. Perfect party wine.

This is one of our perennial favorites here at K&L. Due to the warm climate in Catalonia, the Pinot Noir grapes used in production are picked in early August to preserve the acidity and freshness of the wine. Light strawberry flavors and a crisp, mineral finish make this rosé bubbly hard to beat - and especially at the under-$15 price point! Enjoy on its own or with a wide array of cheeses and charcuterie

How many hand picked, hand riddled sparkling wines can you find for $12.99? Not many I think! We have all been lucky enough to enjoy the Mas Codina brut for the past few seasons and now we can enjoy the rose! Being from the hot, dry region of Penedes, the Pinot Noir grapes are picked in early August to keep the sugar levels down and the acidity up to create a dry, fresh rose. The wine is filled with the classic Pinot Noir notes of fresh berries and ripe cherry with a dry, chalky backbone that makes the wine non-stop!

Notes

K&L has been direct importing Cava from Mas Codina for well over a decade, and over that time they have developed a loyal fan base — and with good reason, as these are possibly some of the best-value sparkling wines we stock. While Cava from Penedès, the historic heart of sparkling wine production in Spain, is dominated by a handful of large corporate producers, small family-run wineries like Mas Codina continue to swim upstream, steadfastly devoted to producing high-quality, traditional method sparkling wines at very reasonable prices. The estate comprises just 40 hectares in the cool-climate Alt Penedès sub-region and was first established in 1681, passed down through the decades and now managed by brothers Toni and Jordi Garriga. While previous generations sold their fruit to larger wineries, in 1985 the then 17-year-old Toni began bottling wine at the estate. Since then, numerous improvements to the estate have been made, including organic certification, and the wines have never been better – each shipment we receive just seems to improve upon the last. Each wine is made from 100% organic estate-grown fruit, and all winemaking, bottling and aging is likewise done onsite. The Rosé Brut Reserva is 100% Pinot Noir and is aged for 18 months before disgorgement. Just 11.9% alcohol, the wine has a dosage of 8 g/L.
