2011 Inglenook "Cask" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
91
James Suckling
Review Date: 05/2016This shows the lighter style of 2011. It has so much fresh herb and green tobacco on the nose with subtle currant undertones. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and very, very fresh. Refined tannins. Polished all around.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask is a beautiful wine that has aged well. Still quite fresh and bright, the 2011 will drink well for at least another decade. The savory profile typical of the year is not too present, but the lithe, mid-weight structure is. Hints of lavender, sage, mint and black pepper linger nicely. (AG)

Originally made between the 1930s and early 1960s, Cask was given new life by Francis Ford Coppola in the mid-1990s. This vintage is on the money in terms of style, going for a timeless, elegantly lean wine with dense tannins and plenty of vibrancy. Cranberry, black tea and a tease of green olive mark the entry, before denser elements of coffee and tobacco feature on the finish. *Cellar Selection* (VB)
