At the heart of Chianti Classico, Badia a Passignano is among the most beautiful wine properties in the world with an ancient abbey that crowns softly rolling hills. This wine is packed tightly with bright cherry, spice and tobacco notes, and lingering touches of wild berry and cola.

Good full ruby-red. Fresh, very pure aromas of raspberry, red cherry, flint and underbrush, along with a whiff of game. Bright and generous, with a restrained sweetness but a velvety texture and plenty of pure, clean mineral, red berry and delicate fresh herb flavors. The mineral-driven finish is long and gripping. I am amazed at how good the 2008 Badia a Passignano and Chianti Classico Riserva wines are in what is generally a cooler, more difficult vintage. (ID)

Notes

Antinori is one of Italy’s most historic wine families, with a winemaking legacy in Tuscany dating back to 1385. The Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is sourced from estate vineyards in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone, where galestro and alberese soils, combined with warm days and cool nights, provide ideal conditions for Sangiovese. With centuries of experience and a focus on both tradition and innovation, Antinori crafts wines that reflect the structure, balance, and regional identity of this classic Tuscan terroir.
