2012 Lanessan, Haut-Médoc

A decent effort in this tough vintage for some of the Médoc wines, Lanessan’s 2012 has some nice suppleness to the tannin, cranberry and black cherry fruit, plum and blackcurrants. It is medium-bodied with earth, herbs and spice. Drink it over the next decade. (RP)

This Left Bank value stunner is all about class, inside and out. In fine form with 12 years of age, it’s drinking beautifully right now with fresh and modern touches of plum, cassis, black tea, and a whisper of dried lavender. Perfect for savory snacks with people you look forward to spending time with.

Lanessan has produced innumerous vintages of old school, aged Bordeaux that our customers snap up for its wonderful quality-to-price ratio. This is perhaps the best I've had yet. It is certainly more modern and refined than previous vintages, with lovely boysenberry, cassis and black cherry fruit, with a touch of pencil shavings and toast. The concentrated and delicious fruit is lifted and fresh on the palate, with medium, refined tannins and perfectly balanced acid on the finish for freshness. It is showing no tiredness at all, and I expect will continue to age for many years to come. Enjoy now, or later. But don't wait to buy it, deals like this don't last long on the shelf.

A staple at K&L, showing elegant notes of crushed stones, wood spices, and cassis. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with cassis fruit and dark cherries. The touch of spices and earthiness lend to its elegance. An absolute no-brainer.

Notes

* A very fruity and tasty style. Another great value from what Robert Parker calls a "consistent property that turns out wines that are often very close to classified-growth quality."
