Delicious aromas cover the entire range of the strawberry experience, from the scents of a blossoming strawberry field to frozen berries macerated into a syrup. It’s refreshing and yet grippy on the palate at the same time, with candied raspberry and crushed vanilla bean swirling with bergamot rind, anise, black pepper and pine sap. Imagine mint-wrapped berries on a fresh-cut plank of oak. (MK)

Brilliant red. Sexy, intensely perfumed aromas of red fruit preserves, incense, smoky minerals and potpourri, with a hint of blood orange in the background. Stains the palate with concentrated raspberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors lifted and sharpened by a peppery spice nuance. Rich, lively and precise, showing excellent finishing thrust and cling and chewy tannins. This potent but lithe Pinot should reward patience. … As usual, the 2012 Pinots were made entirely with whole clusters and show the flamboyant fruit of the vintage to full effect, but the wines have more than enough acidity and framework to suggest that they'll age gracefully. Brewer thinks that they'll be appealing to those 'who drink Pinot for its sex appeal' as well as those 'who want them to show a little more mystery' down the road. (JR)

Expressive floral notes meld into bright, focused fruit in the 2012 Pinot Noir 3-D. One of the more taut Pinots in the Brewer-Clifton range, the 2012 is all about energy. Here, too, the 100% whole clusters are impeccably balanced. The finish alone here is absolutely striking. (AG)

Trim and snappy, with firm acidity and tannins amid the delicate plum, wilted rose and black cherry flavors, ending with a touch of black tea spiciness. Drink now through 2023. (JL)
