Baron de Lustrac is a well respected small producer that has estates both in the Tenereze as well as Bas-Armagnac. They're generally focused on single varietal offerings, but it was the 25 year old XO that struck me as their most exceptional brandy for the price. These are old Armagnacs of at least 25 years old without the addition of water or coloring whatsoever and bottled right out of the cask. The result is of a purity and intensity not scene in the rest of the line up and at this price it could easily be a contender for best value in the whole region. The style is not ultra estery with tons of floral, fruit and spice aromas. Very balanced and very well put together.

Here's a great value on a 25 year old Armagnac from a truly historic property. Complex and rich with a beautiful deep nose and a broad palate almost creamy in texture. A definite must for any Cognac/Armagnac lover!
