From Mosel Fine Wines: "This former Grosser Ring/VDP Estate was the last of the original Geschw. Berres Erben Estates. It was run by Elisabeth Berres, a granddaughter of Peter Jos. Berres, and her husband Otto Christoffel until their retirement in 1997." The Christoffel and Berres estates are now managed separately but still hold a good deal of the most important vineyard plots between the neighboring Mosel villages of Urzig and Erden. Decanter Magazine rates the 1975 vintage in Germany 5 out of 5 stars and calls it "An under-rated year. The best wines are characterised by a filigree elegance with fine acidity in contrast with the more obvious rich and concentrated 1976s. Botrytis played its part in allowing great Ausleses and Beerenausleses to be made in all the classic regions. The finest wines are to be found from Mosel/Saar/Ruwer and the Nahe."
