As great as the 2007 Bienvenues is chez Leflaive, the Bâtard-Montrachet is a small step up in quality. This is a brilliant, brilliant wine, that explodes from the glass in a fabulous mélange of apple, pears, bee pollen, stunning minerality, a delicate touch of honey, candied white flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and multi-faceted, with brilliant fruit complexity, a huge blade of minerality running down the spine, tensile acidity, laser-like focus and stunning length and grip on the dancing finish.
