The sublime 2004 Flor de Pingus lacks the pure size and power of the 2005 but more than makes up for it with a regal elegance. The aromatics are already revealing considerable complexity while on the palate it is succulent, impeccably balanced, and mouth-coating. (JM)

Inky ruby. Exotic aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, roasted coffee, dark chocolate and cured tobacco. Lush, sweet and smoky, with a supple texture to the deep dark berry liqueur flavors. No edges here, just luscious dark fruits and a wild smoky quality that carries into the finish. Impressively powerful and rich on the back end, with a lingering blackberry quality that won't quit. Notes

The Flor de Pingus is technically the second label for Dominio de Pingus, one of the most sought-after and expensive wines from Spain. Danish oenologist Peter Sisseck, the founder and winemaker, makes wines that are highly extracted, dense, and thick.
