Lehmann "Jamesse Prestige" Grand Champagne Mouth-Blown Wine Glass #45

Lehmann "Jamesse Prestige" Grand Champagne Mouth-Blown Wine Glass #45

K&L Buyer
Review Date: 05/2014

When our Champagne gurus Gary and Scott came back from Champagne this year raving about the glassware designed by Philippe Jamesse, I certainly took notice. These Champagne glasses are a bit more open and less flute like than standard flutes, and highlight the complexity of Champagne beautifully. Among the best Champagne glasses we've ever used, they are also an incredible value for both the mouth blown and machine made versions. If you love Champagne you owe it to yourself to try this glass.

I had the chance to try these fantastic, mouth-blown glasses in Reims in April of 2014. They are fantastically light and concentrate the nose beautifully! They are also very visually pleasing and elegant. I have a set of much more expensive (over $100 a stem) glasses that are inferior to these. They are rarely used. I use these glasses for special occasions and also keep a set of the machine-made version for everyday use. Update: I eventually gave away my more expensive non-Lehmann Champagne glasses because these are infinitely better. The same set that I purchased 10 years ago is still around and intact! 31 October, 2025.

I get it, you want the best. Well, here it is. The Lehmann "Jamesse Prestige" are ultralight, ultra-thin, and ultra sleek. All mouth-blown in Europe, this is next-level stemware that makes any occasion special. There is no next step, no higher rung, no mountain peak. You can pay more for other high-end Champagne stems if you like, but this is as good as Champagne glassware gets.

Mouth blown perfection for the champagne lover! This great design, which not only looks great, but brings out the very best in your special bottles, is my own FAVORITE glass for drinking champagne. The mouth blown glasses are fragile, and should not go in the dishwasher, but the thinner material brings out complexity and texture that you can't get any other way. Considering most mouth blown stems cost more than twice this much, consider treating yourself to this best-in-class masterpiece, for a very reasonable price!

Notes

Possibly the greatest Champagne glass ever! Our Champagne buyer, Gary Westby, came back from the region raving about this glass, and for good reason. It's perfectly shaped, with a fantastic feel and a great price. This is the most exciting new piece of glassware that we have found at K&L in many years, and the very best way to enjoy Champagne. Philippe Jamesse is the Sommelier at Château Les Crayères in Reims, the luxury destination for the Champagne region. He's tasted more great Champagne thoughtfully than almost anyone in the world, and partnered with Reims glassware manufacturer Gerhard Lehmann to produce one of the best Champagne glasses ever made. The tulip shape of this glass allows for a very pretty stream of bubbles to develop from the bottom of the glass, while the generous 450ml size allows room for the aromas to develop. Traditional flutes, on the other hand, are too narrow at the top for one to smell the aromas, while pouring the wine in a limiting narrow stream across the tongue. Regular wine glasses make Champagne look flat. The Jamesse gets it just right! 450ml mouth-blown non-lead crystal; Ships in case quantities of six only
