2011 Domaine Louis Jadot (Andre Gagey) Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Boudots"
93
John Gilman
Review Date: 12/2012The parcel of Boudots owned by the Gagey family was purchased by the family in 1969, and is planted half to very old vines and half that was replanted in 1978 and 1979. The plot lies on the border with Vosne-Romanée “Malconsorts”, and this is one of the great wines year in and year out in the Jadot lineup. The 2011 is exceptional, jumping from the glass in a mélange of red plums, cherries, gamebirds, coffee, woodsmoke, a touch of mustard seed, vanillin oak and a great, complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is very pure, full-bodied and properly structured for a young Boudots, with a fine core of fruit, ripe, well-integrated tannins and outstanding length and grip on the focused and still quite primary finish. This is an absolute classic in the making!
