The parcel of Boudots owned by the Gagey family was purchased by the family in 1969, and is planted half to very old vines and half that was replanted in 1978 and 1979. The plot lies on the border with Vosne-Romanée “Malconsorts”, and this is one of the great wines year in and year out in the Jadot lineup. The 2011 is exceptional, jumping from the glass in a mélange of red plums, cherries, gamebirds, coffee, woodsmoke, a touch of mustard seed, vanillin oak and a great, complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is very pure, full-bodied and properly structured for a young Boudots, with a fine core of fruit, ripe, well-integrated tannins and outstanding length and grip on the focused and still quite primary finish. This is an absolute classic in the making!

The fruit is ripe and pure in this brooding, dense version, accented by cherry, spice and mineral flavors. Balanced and long on the savory aftertaste, with plenty of elements in reserve.

This has almost completely eaten the oak treatment which allows the expressive nose that is comprised of spiced plum, earth, menthol and cassis aromas to shine. There is fine intensity to the attractively, even seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess focused power and punch on the balanced and impressively persistent finish. This should offer at least a decade of development potential. Note that if you're going to try a bottle young to allow for at least 30 minutes of air as the mid-palate really fleshed out the longer it sat in the glass.*Burghound Outstanding!*

Medium red. Brooding aromas of dark fruits, mint and menthol. Rich and deep on the palate, with spicy red fruit flavors lifted by a note of orange peel. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and juicy persistence.
