A lovely, creamy rosé Champagne, seamlessly layering vivid acidity with dried fig, poached apricot and Mandarin orange peel fruit notes, offering exotic accents of grilled nut, curry spice and dogwood blossom that expand and echo on the finish. Disgorged winter 2015. (AN)

The new release of Krug Brut Rosé, which is the twentieth edition of this wine, is from the base year of 2007, with reserve wines (composing thirty-two percent of the blend) dating back to 2002. The cépages is forty-seven percent pinot noir, thirty-seven percent chardonnay and sixteen percent pinot meunier. The wine spent nine years aging sur latte and the blend includes ten percent still red wine, giving it its beautiful salmon color. The bouquet is pure, complex and the embodiment of refinement, offering up scents of tangerine, cherry skin, wheat toast, a classy base of soil and a myriad of gentle spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very elegant in profile, with an excellent core, pinpoint bubbles, bright acids and a very, very long, complex and perfectly balanced finish. Just a beautifully complete and understated wine that demands contemplation. (Drink between 2017-2040)

Light onion skin color. Fresh pear, strawberry and white peach scents are sharpened by notes of orange pith and smoky minerality. Juicy, tightly wound orchard and red fruit flavors show a refreshingly bitter quality and pick up weight and spiciness with air. Shows excellent clarity and power on the finish, which echoes the mineral and orange notes. Seems quite young now but highly promising.
