Reviewed April 2014A fleshy, showy youngster, putting ripe fruit and jazzy oak on display. An impressive 2011 that reverberates with ripe cherry, plum and currant notes that will be at their most appealing early on, as this veers toward dryer tannins on the finish. (JL)

One of the original Napa family wineries of the early 1970s wine revival, Caymus has been making Napa Valley Cab since 1972. Says owner and winemaker Chuck Wagner: "Our focus continues to be on making Cabernets that are scrumptious in their youth but can age with the best of them. This wine can be enjoyed upon release while it is chock full of youthful exuberance, or it can be cellared for a decade or more when the wine's color lessens and its once fruit-laden force matures to a cedary bottle bouquet and more refined characters."
