Warm sun kissed fruit, menthol aspects, tobacco, dark chocolate and toast. There's a real richness to the fruit here, ripe and chewy and fleshy, clearly sun kissed, but with a texture that's sleek - tannins are fine and firm so you get the tension marrying the richness of fruit. It's still a little buzzing and youthful, not yet settled so much. But there's energy, purity, clarity, excellent tannins making this sleek and focussed. I prefer the 2009 at this point, this is a little tense and strict. Power and muscle, but still settling right now. This has great potential and there is a lot to like here. (GH)

Tannic grip still very much in control, still with the sculpted quality that you find in the 2009 Chevalier. Cocoa bean, cassis, wet stone minerality, a sliver of joy hiding among the intense concentrated black fruits and liquorice root, I suggest giving it another three or four years to get the architecture to really relax. A brilliant way to see the difference in character between the two vintages. Harvest October 6 to 19. 33% new oak for ageing.

Dark fruits such as raspberries and blueberries with subtle perfume on the nose. Full body, with super well-integrated tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Racy young wine. Shows classy structure and richness.

This is a great wine with its swathes of ripe fruit allied to a very structured character. It is concentrated with complex flavors that bring in wood, tropical fruits, apricots and a dense texture. Combined, these elements give the wine great style and aging potential. *Cellar Selection* (RV)

Notes

96 points, Panos Kakaviatos for Decanter: "Somewhat like the white of the same vintage, this is a taut wine, but time in glass yields impressive, cool, blueberry fruit that tastes more youthful than its age. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the palate with vivid blackcurrant, graphite and tannic power. Give it another decade and it will gain in complexity and interest." (5/2023)
