Reviewed June 2013More refined and elegant, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series #19 is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and was aged 20 months in 50% new French oak. Very classic on the nose, with plenty of black currant, tobacco leaf, chocolate, cedar and herbs, it is medium to full-bodied, seamless and perfectly balanced, with a light fresh texture that conceals underlying ripe tannin. Owned and run by long time Walla Walla Vintner Rick Small, with the wines made by Kevin Mott, this estate produces classic, elegant wines that have lots of oak, yet the fruit to handle it. (JD)

Liquorous and tight, this opens into a rich and full mid-palate loaded with smoky cassis and tar, accented with aromas of cedar and tobacco. The taste and track record suggest at least a decade of further aging is necessary. *Cellar Selection*

Bright, deep red-ruby. Currant, dark plum, menthol, chocolate and licorice on the nose. Vibrant and light on its feet, offering excellent definition and energy to its cassis and chocolate flavors. Very silky and seamless in texture, showing slightly elevated acidity but very good chocolatey richness. Finishes with noteworthy lift but the wine's substantial tannins will need time to harmonize with the fruit. (ST) 91+

Delicate, charming, blackcurrant nose – minty and lively. Supple but concentrated, with a somewhat baked character and a bright, toasty finish. (SB)
