2002 Domaine Roulot Meursault "Meix Chavaux"

Review Date: 12/2004Sleek and restrained, this is rooted in the mineral camp, with support from citronella and hazelnut notes. Very discreet use of oak, with plenty of substance. Vibrant and long. Best from 2006 through 2012.

The 2002 Meursault Meix Chavaux boasts a gorgeous minerality. Medium-bodied, rich, ample, and suave, it is crammed with spicy pears and candied apples. This lush, velvety-textured wine should be drunk over the next 5 years.

A somewhat reserved nose of hay and dried grass is followed by fat, rich, pure and remarkably precise flavors that are sappy, rich, punchy and nicely textured, all wrapped in a nervous, slightly edgy and dry finish of fine intensity. This is really quite lovely in a more restrained style.
