Notes
The 1997 Tenute Silvio Nardi "Vigneto Manachiara" Brunello di Montalcino is a mature, majestic snapshot of a legendary Tuscan vintage, coming from the estate's prized single vineyard on the warmer, eastern slopes of Montallcino. True to the winemaking ethos of the late '90s and the inherently warm, sun-drenched conditions of the 1997 growing season, this wine was crafted with a more modern, oak-forward blueprint designed to deliver power, volume, and structure. Nearly three decades post-vintage, well-cellared bottles have fully resolved their dense wood tannins, evolving into a beautifully complex, integrated experience. In the glass, it shows a translucent medium-to-dark garnet crimson color with a classic brick-orange edge. The nose is highly fragrant and deeply savory, offering a complex aromatic array of dried black cherries, licorice, and anise, underscored by mature notes of pipe tobacco, forest floor, and a lingering touch of cedarwood. On the palate, the wine retains surprising structure and vitality. While it has softened into a velvety, supple texture, a solid backbone of sweet acidity keeps the remaining dried red and black fruit components bright. The finish is remarkably persistent and dry, leaving a lasting impression of savory herbs, leather, and black tea.
