Composed of 65% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Bouzy Les Terres Roses (5% red wine) pours a bright pale pink hue and reveals aromatics of ripe strawberry, fresh bread dough, and candied roses. Juicy and inviting, with a fluffy mousse, it’s full-bodied and has a clean, supple, fruity texture. It’s fresh and savory on the palate, with salty lift and a note of orange zest that leaves a mouthwatering finish. Drink 2024-2040. One gram per liter dosage. (AF)

Bouzy's reputation for beautiful red fruit is even clearer in rosé, although this is heavily tempered by Chardonnay. Red grapefruit and pomegranate fruit are lifted up and pulled tight by citrus and roasted apricots, before a lick of sweet spice and bitter herb completes a snappy, appetising rosé that presents Bouzy's power with some delicacy. 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, based on the 2019 vintage. This is one of the most refreshing and elegant rose champagnes in our inventory and one of the only current releases to make my list of 10 most memorable champagnes of 2024. Coming exclusively from grand cru, estate vineyards in Bouzy it is surprising to see such a high proportion of Chardonnay here, and it shows in the vibrancy of this top-notch bottling. Naturally, the old vine Pinot Noir used to give its color gives this wine fantastic black cherry depth and intriguing savor. What a great dry rose!

I dare you to find a food that this would not go well with. Do not be deceived by the pale pink produced by only 5-6% of Bouzy Rouge, as this juicy and structured rosé leaves nothing to be desired. It is simply exuberantly expressive, and holds its own against a myriad of flavors and experiences. Despite being from the royal land of Pinot Noir (Bouzy), it is surprisingly predominantly Chardonnay. With the power of Bouzy Pinot as the remainder, this is a striking bottle that I just cannot wait to open another one of.

This extra-fine beaded Brut Rose has the most beautiful raspberry and black cherry fruit backed up by bright citrus and a creamy texture. The bead is small, small, small and adds an elegant delicacy to the overall character. The finish is long and clean but not too tart. Certainly not nearly as overly tart as a no dosage Brut often be. This one is just perfect!

Notes

This is one of our most delicate and refined rosé Champagnes, and is a combination of 65% Chardonnay, 28% Pinot Noir (vinified white), and 7% Bouzy Rouge Pinot Noir. It's dosed at 4.5 grams per liter and is quite dry. It's made 100% from estate-grown fruit from the Grand Cru of Bouzy, on the south-facing slopes of the Mountain of Reims and farmed without pesticides. I find this wine subtle and almost haunting, and it goes very, very well with shellfish. If you are a fan of rosé Champagne with lobster, you have found your perfect bottle!
