Review Date: 06/2012*Editors' Choice* With this new line, Gallo once again strives to redefine itself, with positive results. Bearing Gina Gallo’s signature, it’s a fine Cabernet, soft, dry and complex, with flavors of blackberry, black currant and cedar. The structure is all about Napa Valley, showing ripe, smooth tannins and a good bite of acidity. Really a superior Cab, one to drink now and over the next six years.

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature Series may nearly equal the quality of the 2008 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. The flagship winery in the Ernest and Julio Gallo empire, the Gallo Family Vineyards has produced a bevy of delicious reds and whites. While I know many readers remember Gallo from the old days of hearty Burgundy and Chablis blanc, they have long been committed to high quality, which is evident in not only these wines but others from their huge portfolio of wine estates. Rustic and chewy, with a dense mix of loamy earth, crushed rock, black licorice, blackberry, cedar and tobacco, ending with a return to the wine's chewy attributes. This wine finds Gallo working with Napa grapes. Drink now through 2020.
