The "Iles de Vergelesses" vineyard is the best in the entire village. It is the most highly regarded site, after which the village is named. Located mid-slope, below Savigny Vergelesses, it is an amazing place. This has black fruit notes, a rich, mineral-driven mid palate, supple ripe tannins, lots of length on the finish. It is a bit structured at the end, indicating some time in the cellar will benefit it, for sure. In short, this is terrific and reasonably priced to boot. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 03/11)
