Meletti's Anisette is their flagship product. Silvio Meletti began formulating his anisette in the mid 1800's, and after experimenting with various sources for his anise, he identified the plant material from the Ascoli Piceno region east of Rome as being the best. The clay soils of Ascoli Piceno produce the most aromatic anise and Silvio decided that he could capture these aromas best if he used a traditional alembic still. His patience paid off in 1879 when King Umberto of Italy awarded him use of the royal coat of arms. Meletti always attributed the incredible flavor of this special Anisette to his proprietary aging process which increases the ABV to 68 proof.
