More fresh and lively than the uber rich Classique, the 2007 Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes (70% Grenache and 30% Syrah) offers lots of Provencal character in its ripe dark fruits, garrigue, leather and spice-driven aromas and flavors. Tasting like the essence of Provence, it has full-bodied richness, still present tannin and impeccable balance, all suggesting it will continue drinking well for at least another 5-6 years. (JD)
