Reviewed July 2014Along the same lines, the 2006 Estate Cuvee gives up big, layered and ripe aromas of assorted dark fruits, toasted spice, roasted herbs and licorice in a full-bodied, exuberant and decadent package. A blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, it’s still youthful and lively, yet has a rounded, approachable feel that just begs to be drunk. (JD)

Opaque ruby. Deep, smoky aromas of blackcurrant, cherry-cola, black pepper, vanilla, tobacco and smoked meat. Broad, chewy red and dark berry flavors gain sweetness with air while picking up strong, chewy tannins. Finishes long and impressively sappy. The 2005, which I retasted next to this, is more brooding and will need more patience. (JR)
Notes
Still a bit tightly wound on the nose, the wine slowly reveals aromas of black fruit and lightly toasted bread. A bit more revealing on the palate, there are focused blueberry and blackberry flavors on the attack, lifted by notes of brighter red fruit like strawberry and raspberry, woven together seamlessly with a thread of anise and leather, long, soft tannins and a hint of minerality.
