Lots going on aromatically, with notes of mocha, clay and cedar. It's a touch floral and impressively vibrant, with blackcurrant and blackberry fruit flavours, while the tannins exert a reassuringly fine-grained grip. Composed, well-structured and complex, this wine, from such a great vintage, is maturing nicely but still has plenty of life left in it. (SW)

The 2005 Potensac is absolutely gorgeous. The aromatics alone are beguiling. Delicate, elegant and super-expressive, this Potensac is absolutely gorgeous in 2005. Time in the decanter brings out the fruit nicely, yet the 2005 remains light on its feet and a wine of real finesse. It is also still young and full of life. What a treat it is to taste it from a perfectly stored bottle. (AG)

The Château Potensac 2005 sports a clear garnet colour. The nose is modest at first, but nicely defined with blackberry and raspberry fruit, candied orange peel emerging from the background hand in hand with cedar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and quite noticeable acidity. Backward and a little surly on the finish, this needs another three or four years to come around. (NM)

Email ClydeSuper vintage and this wine is a bargain for the mid-term collector. Lots of black fruit flavors. Decant one hour and enjoy with a steak.
