A background touch of wood frames the very ripe though still elegant upper register red Pinot fruit aromas that give way to full, sweet and somewhat bigger and more robust medium plus weight flavors that offer good depth if less overall finesse. There is more muscle and punch here and this is very Gevrey in character and style. Very solid quality and also recommended. *Outstanding*

A meaty red, with feral and sanguine notes that play off the black cherry and red currant flavors. This is tight now, with a grainy texture, fine concentration and a long, dense finish of cherry and earth. (BS)

Good red-ruby. Black raspberry, black cherry and a stony element on the nose. At once reticent and ripe, with good density of ripe fruits and a firm stony underpinning. Finishes very ripe but a bit inexpressive and not currently revealing the sweetness on the back end that it shows in the middle palate. (ST) 90+

Notes

Deeper and darker than the Estournelles, since it comes form a lower vineyard with richer, deeper soils. Shows prominent black fruit notes, with a rich concentrated mid-palate. Very masculine in style. Terrifically big wine.
