2005 Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux St-Jacques"

Burghound
Review Date: 01/2007A background touch of wood frames the very ripe though still elegant upper register red Pinot fruit aromas that give way to full, sweet and somewhat bigger and more robust medium plus weight flavors that offer good depth if less overall finesse. There is more muscle and punch here and this is very Gevrey in character and style. Very solid quality and also recommended. *Outstanding*

Notes
Deeper and darker than the Estournelles, since it comes form a lower vineyard with richer, deeper soils. Shows prominent black fruit notes, with a rich concentrated mid-palate. Very masculine in style. Terrifically big wine.
