Notes

The 2004 Jermann Vintage Tunina is a majestic, historical monument of a white blend, representing Silvio Jermann’s undisputed masterpiece at a glorious peak of maturity. First conceived in 1975 and named after a poor servant woman who worked in the local Villeneuve vineyards, Vintage Tunina completely revolutionized the perception of Italian white wine by proving it could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the finest grand crus of the world. Grown on the classic calcareous marl and sandstone ponca soils of the Villanova di Farra vineyards, this legendary field blend is composed of late-harvested Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, balanced by smaller portions of native Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, and Picolit. The fruit was harvested roughly two weeks after the main pickings to maximize phenolic concentration and natural richness, before undergoing a meticulous fermentation and maturation in a combination of stainless steel and large, neutral Slavonian oak barrels.
