2000 Cotes du Frontonnais Chateau Le Roc "Don Quichotte"
Notes
This substantial red is made from a fifty-fifty blend of negrette and syrah, aged in well-seasoned (meaning old and therefore largely neutral) barrels. What does negrette taste like, you ask? Let's hear importer Charles Neal's take on this southern beauty: "Tremendously fragrant nose, with plenty of Syrah spice and Negrette floramatics. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with notes of redcurrants and cassis. Pleasing peppery note on the finish. Classy wine and perhaps the reference point in the Côtes du Frontonnais."
