Made from 100% Grenache with microscopic yields of 10-15 hectoliters per hectar, and aged in a combination of small barrels and tank, it is usually a blockbuster effort as well as one of the richest made in the southern Rhone. It is also among the most powerful and tannic, and can age for 15-20 years. The 2001...exhibits spicy new oak intermixed with hints of creosote, black currant liqueur, melted licorice, and blackberries. This enormously endowed, full throttle beauty is pure and textured. This big Rhone is aged in new oak barrels and offers lots of toasty oak and raspberry aromas. This will cellar well for 10 years plus.
