2001 Falesco Vitiano
Notes
88 points Wine Spectator and listed among the Top 53 wines of value in Italy! "Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella, brothers and fellow enologists, have been building their vineyard holdings in Umbria and Lazio for 20 years. Vitiano, a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot first produced in 1995, is the workhorse of their venture. Eighty-five percent of the grapes come from vineyards on the 740-acre Falesco estate -- the rest from producers under strict control. The 2001 is the best Vitiano ever, offering plenty of soft and plummy fruit, round tannins and a chocolaty finish."
